First of all, if your cat passes away and you want to go out and adopt another right away to try and curb the loneliness and sorrow... I really urge you to not do that. I wasn't going to do that and my husband, who couldn't stand to see me so sad for so long, urged me to adopt another cat just four months after my best friend and favorite cat died of cancer. I did and continue to regret it.
An engineer who used to work for Amazon has created a new "cat translator" app. The app supposedly translates the cat's meows to help you decipher its speech, which would be incredible if it really works.
My aunt just shared a bunch of cute DIY cat scratching tower ideas with me on Pinterest and she's got me in the holiday mood! I'm a big dork when it comes to cat beds and towers, and we have them in almost every room for our three cats. I also love to get the little holiday themed cat houses the cats love to scratch and lie around in.
When a pet goes missing, it's one of the most helpless, devastating feelings in the world. When my dogs ran off for a few hours one night this fall I searched the whole time, alternating between yelling for them and crying. Once they came home I was so relieved. When I heard about this cat who'd been missing for much longer, I couldn't help but be amazed.
As a cat lover, I kind of love cat superstitions. I don't like the bad rap that black cats, my favorites, get as being "bad luck," but I love the idea of cats actually being witches in transformation mode. I also love the idea of a cat sitting on your chest and purring attempting to "heal" you out of love.

More pets have allergies today than ever before, but in addition to the usual culprits like dust, pollen and whatever it is your pooch likes to roll in that causes her to lose fur (yes, we had a summer of that!), your dog may also have an allergen common to many humans: cats!
Are your cats as strange as mine? Cats can be real weirdos. Mine love to talk to me, lick my nose and do other weird things. Does your cat like to chew on your hair? I once had a cat who did that. It turns out that chewing on your hair is just another way they demonstrate their love!

The debate between which companion, cat or dog, is better may always rage on, and there are valid points on both sides of the aisle on this one. As a cat person who loves both and has both, I really can see the benefits (and the drawbacks!) to having both animals.
When my cats are distressed at the vet, sometimes they offer a towel sprayed with pheremones that significantly helps them calm down. This may not work for all cats but it has for mine in the past. It turns out that you can actually buy plug-ins that emit these scents into your home!
There are also supplements for cats, although I'm not sure if they work well or not. Obviously you can also remove cat stressors, provide privacy boxes and scratching posts and otherwise help alleviate stress.
