Several cities have been outlawing the cruel practice of elective cat declawing, and Madison, Wisconsin just added themselves to the list. This is so important because declawing cats doesn't just strip them of any protection they have should they ever get lost or abandoned by their owner, it's also incredibly painful for the animals.
Lots of people refer to their cats as psychopaths. Is it really that far of a stretch? Cats knock off our cups while looking us dead in the eye, deliberately disobey us and act up in ways we'd never see our dogs do (at least, not in front of us!). Now scientists have a questionnaire you can fill out to determine whether or not your cat is truly a psychopath!
If you search for cat videos this week, you might find some nefarious information. And that's just one of the many weird cat stories in the news this week! Apparently videos and photos of cute cats are being used to spread misinformation online by various groups of people, so beware if that cat flushing a toilet is captioned with some conspiracy theory.
Whether it's more stories in the news lately or just an abundance of floof on TikTok, the cute cats are really out and proud this week. My own cats have even been especially adorable. I took a picture of my floofiest girl posing like a regal queen on the back of my desk chair just this morning.
As animal advocates ask for Covid-19 vaccines for zoo animals and pets, experts say that the vaccines, while developed for animals, may not always be necessary. We've seen zoo animals sadly pass away from Covid, and it turns out that the vaccine they are given was originally developed for companion animals--dogs--in the first place. The reason it's not being made into a priority is an encouraging one: our companion animals aren't as affected by the disease as we are.

We used some coupons to get one of the Target Treat Boutique Candy Shop cat scratchers this year and I just finished putting it together yesterday. Take Truffles, the glasses-wearing cat! Truffles "works" with her optometrist mom in helping kids accept and celebrate their glasses.
Every day I see caracals and other exotic animals on TikTok or Instagram and think about how beautiful they are, how cool it seems to have one living with you--and how I would never want that responsibility. Case in point? An African caracal cat has escaped its home and police have warned citizens to not approach the animal and call them for assistance should they see it.
There's a running joke in my house that I make a cat bed out of everything, but it's also true! If there's an empty basket, extra blanket or other strange objects in the house... an instant cat bed. If there's a box delivered, forget about it--the cats themselves will lay claim to it!
