You should feel honored. Your cat is bringing you what it sees as a "gift". Instead of eating it all itself, it chose to bring it to you. It's not a very pleasant "gift" for a human to receive, but your cat can't really bring you something you'd like.

My cat used to bring me chipmunks whenever she would catch them. I would leave her in the house and then take the chipmunk back outside and bury it. She (my cat) probably thought I was going outside and eating them.

I really don't know how to convince a cat to stop doing this. Can you ever convince a cat of anything?

Cats bring you treats to show their love for you. To avoid letting the cat bring these treats inside, perhaps you shouldn't have a way for the cat to come inside on their own? Our cats would cry at the door or rattle the window screens and we would let them in. It seemed to work out ok, and when they had a bird or mouse in their mouth, we didn't let them inside. We took care of it outside.
