Does anyone have a cat that poops on the carpet all the time? Any suggestions? We are thinking of putting our cat to sleep, but would rather not. Any help at all would be apreciated.
About your cat pooping on the carpet, there are several things you can try; if you havent tried these already:
1) A full exam from a vet
2) A fecal exam-make sure no parasites.
3) A full blood pannel, make sure thyroid, glucose, kidney and liver functions are okay.
4) A urinalysis
5) Mostly, when a cat poops (defecates) out of its litter pan there are usually on 2 main reasons:
1) Behavioral problem-if that is the case you need to correct the problem through behavior changes! New litter pan, a litter pan without a cover, put cat in small area, bathroom, crate, etc. with a litter pan and see if he/she will go in litter pan, when forced in a small area. Keep litter pan extremely clean, possible try new litter-no fragance. Try kitty prozac!
2) Medical problem-see above suggestions.
Good luck, I know it can be a pain, but I'm sure you would feel better with your self, if you tried other things before making the final decision. Take care.

have you tried multiple cat boxes? mine urinated on the floor- I got 2 extra boxes and keep them very clean (scoop twice daily, change litter weekly) and he's down to urinating on the floor about twice a year. not perfect, but much better
yes, my male, the only male in this house of six cats does it. we took up all the carpet in the house, put down $15,000.00 of hardwood floors, built a #20,000.00 sunroom, and that solved the problem. hope this helps you.
My kitty is not answering me and im afraid i lost her. i hope she's alright. I hope she is hiding and nothing else.
I am 37 year old lady looking for some great conversation.
